This position is accountable for project planning, field engineering and providing the required support to setup project teams in the delivery of satisfactory outcomes to the client for Company Railroad Construction.  This position will assist the Project Manager and Field Operations with technical work on assigned rail construction projects.  The work is highly precise in nature and requires a strong attention to detail.  The position requires 100% travel throughout the U.S. 

Required Skills
  • Perform field engineering support activities.
  • Manage field data, schedules, submittals and project deliverables.
  • Undertake technical work associated with the railroad and commuter rail and light rail transit.
  • Interpret construction plans, specifications and documents.
  • Ability to help manage construction projects on-time and within budget.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project engineering execution and management.

    Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical or Construction Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5+ years managing light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail and/or street car transit projects.
  • Basic education/background in the fundamentals of engineering.
  • Ability to accurately express engineering terminology in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced field contraction environment and to handle deadlines.
  • Ability to travel 100% of the time to the various project locations.
  • Entry level surveying experience.
  • Computer and communication skills required.
  • Must possess good communication skills, have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and will be required to complete reports and engineering plans.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the Company senior management teams, employees, customers, railroads, regulatory agency officials, and the general public.
  • Able and dedicated to working in a fact based collaborative environment.
  • High energy level, comfortable with multi-tasking.
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills.
