Job Description
POSITION:  Senior Development Chemist

REQUIRED: Experience with industrial liquid coatings a must. Candidates with paints, inks or adhesives background will be considered.

JOB FUNCTION:  Defines, plans and executes, and evaluates complex technical projects within given time and budget constraints, and with responsibility for decisions and interpretations.  Monitors budget for major deviations and recommends corrective actions. Prioritizes and coordinates all phases of work for a major program of moderate scope, including several simultaneous projects at various stages of completion.  Develops project objectives and goals and recommends new projects. Integrates input from various sources and has the freedom to modify procedures accordingly to achieve success in the marketplace. Provides technical input to assist/influence customers’ programs. Translates high level objectives into a logical, clearly defined project and program plans.  Promotes experimental design by establishing testing criteria, types of technology to be evaluated, and performance requirements in view of government regulations and competitive standards, if they exist. Applies technical judgment in recommending further action or discontinuing unpromising approaches and projects, subject to approval of the Technical Manager.

Technical Effectiveness:  Recognized as an expert in a particular aspect of chemistry or engineering, with a strong working understanding of related technical areas. Utilizes project management skills, knowledge of manufacturing, business, and internal/external customers to independently plan and direct all aspects of their project area. Initiates and fosters scientific exchange with technical associates both within and outside technical areas of responsibility. Has thorough understanding of applicable engineering / scientific, experimental, and statistical methods, and uses appropriate techniques as required. Demonstrates creativity to generate new ideas and develops solutions to problems. Has improved the organization’s financial performance by developing new technology or solving problems.

Education/Experience:   PhD/3+ MS/7+ BS/10+ (Science / Technology Degree) A formal education or equivalent experience in either chemistry or chemical engineering is required, along with a demonstrated track record of relevant work experience and outstanding technical achievements.
